back in january the deficit reduction act went into effect. while it has a cute name, like other dangerous acts that are all sugar coated, it is a dangerous and extremely biased act meant to control and discriminate. on the outside, the sugar coated title says that the government is trying to reduce our country’s deficit…but did a little deeper and you will see that the limits the act puts on medicare and medicaid will, and now have, cause birth control prices to sky rocket, particularly on college campuses, probably a place where affordable access is in great demand.

happy new year!
the Guy and i are headed into waikiki for new year’s eve…to enjoy some drinks and fireworks on the beach…so to everyone in readerland, have a beautiful and safe new year! hope you all have fun, and a plan, b/c if there is one way to make sure you never meet your new year’s resolutions it’s to die. so don’t die.
and also, if you are the kind of hopeful mind that makes new year’s resolutions, please share. mine is to stop hating people…and to let go of hate i harbor towards other people…hate makes me crazy…
and also, to embrace my inner n3rd and get one of my toons to level 70 to enjoy pwning to the fullest…
malama pono!
but i was angry…it happens…and i needed more time to learn about what had happened…south asia isn’t anything close to my AOE, i have more of an asia/pacific knowledge base to pull from.
while big things are happening around the world, it is always comforting to know that the great town of ann arbor, michigan is on top of the big news…
while the prime minister was being assassinated, this made the front page of the ann arbor news paper…
keeping my sanity
i had a little bit of a rough day getting ready to put the Kid on the plane for her trip to michigan. in fact, some would tell you i was a train wreck…
hey! let’s join up!
h/t to feministing…
anti-choicers will stop at nothing (let me clarify, if you are pro-life, and just think abortion is morally wrong, but you understand what the rest of us are saying, you are not anti-choice in my book…not until you pull stunts like this). i hate hate hate that stalking laws are so fucking hard to prosecute that it’s nigh impossible…
happy solstice!
might not be any posting tomorrow, my apologies to my five faithful readers, but the Kid is michigan bound tomorrow, so i will be a bit busy. also, if you are bored out there in readerland, you may find some fun w/ one of these crafty holiday projects. on a side note, if you are looking for a last minute gift for yours truly, the machine gun on that page is just what i need for my feminist revolution! (at this moment i can’t get the link to work…i will fix it later)
have a bright and beautiful solstice! and whatever holiday you celebrate, may it be peaceful, bright, and filled w/ tolerable people!

what’s in a name?
so big bad condi had to shake her finger at taiwan…in a story from the times which makes me irritable, at a time when i have a headache to the point of nausea, so i am already irritable…
ok…here’s a review for those of you catching up on china and taiwan: china thinks they own the world. seriously. if anything in asia is under dispute of ownership, china will gladly claim it (in fact, i am surprised that they don’t try to play monkey in the middle w/ korea and japan over dokdo) and take the burden of finding out the truth on their own shoulders. they consider taiwan, like tibet, a rogue province, who just needs a firm hand to remind them of their place in the world.
b/c i need a laugh…
and the headache is making me grouchy…so i need a laugh…
plus, as an added bonus, i am a complete star wars nerd.
the top ten other things han shot that didn’t shoot him first…
love it.
favorite quote: there might have been space kittens in there!
enjoy the silly…
please stop giving me reasons to dislike you. i am a huge, huge, huge Buffy fan, for many reasons, including but not limited to the fact that the character you play is strong, and not just in the supernaturally imbued way. buffy kicks ass, and is a character i have no problem holding up as a type of role model for my Kid. i even liked Scooby Doo, both of them and so does the Kid. i have always liked your work, even the “bad” movies that the rest of america seems to hate…
