the v-day round up!
i chuckle at all the hype this fabricated time of year. i know…the “valentine’s day sucks” theme is nothing new…but i want to randomly babble about a few things worth mention today…as i sit here not sleeping b/c i am watching Big Headed Baby for the day (it’s not just a name, mind you).a few things from my inbox:
first is NOW’s ‘love your body‘ quiz. promoting the concept of self love and bodily acceptance. watch the slideshow. you can even get some cool love your body valentines, or send e-cards.
next is a controversial one, but i am a big believer that animals don’t have to die to make me pretty. as much as i groan over some of the things that PETA does, i am a supporter of their anti-fur campaign. i personally am a huge fan of the “i’d rather go naked than wear fun” stunt they run along w/ “ink not mink”…i realize that for some that brings up some huge feminist issues…i believe what i believe…and i believe that the women and men who participate in that campaign chose to do so b/c they are committed to their cause…some of my favorite e-card valentines are from PETA and i am against school dissection. i don’t agree w/ everything they do, but some of it hits pretty spot on for me and my feelings about animal rights. and i love this one ad in particular *swoon*
today marks the beginning of Planned Parenthood’s “condom week“. it’s a good time to educate loved ones about the proper use of condoms and all the good they can do for us! they have even included a great “how to“ video for the condomly challenged (it’s OK, they can be scary the first time!).
