I’ve decided that with the faith based nonsense and the fisa vote and his economic stance that it is Obama who is Bush 2.0. Maybe I should start calling him Obushma.
But I’m not surprised. I never thought that Obama was a progressive.
Since I’ve seen religious organizations be agents for incredibly positive, progressive social change, as well as regressive and ignorant social policy…yah, my feelings are mixed as well.
Theoretically though, I don’t have a problem with faith based initiatives. And if the religious group in question agrees with Obama’s outlook on things, they probably agree with mine. It’s just a very fine and dangerous line to tread.
whatsername, that is pretty much my feeling on it right there. i feel it is a dangerous line to tread.
i remember trying to get assistance to keep my gas turned on in January in Northern Michigan. It’s -40 during the day and i didn’t earn enough in tips to keep the bill paid (there was also this little issue of them not billing me correctly all summer and the gas leak that made me and the Kid sick until we accidentally discovered it), the tribe couldn’t help, and FIA would help me until the Salvation Army turned me down. it was not an easy thing to work w/ the Salvation Army. i got the feeling that they didn’t want to help me b/c i didn’t attend church…which was fine b/c i only needed them to turn me down.
he’s a politician
nothing he does or doesn’t do will surprise me
