No Sense in Repeating

So I will just direct you to Melissa McEwan’s words on Obama’s veep selection.

I am waiting.  Waiting for those people who have blindly and staunchly supported Obama even though his “100%” NARAL rating isn’t deserved.  I am waiting for them to admit that they are just following the messianic craze, and not paying attention to the harm he is going to do us.  And I am waiting for them to stop fucking telling me that I have to vote for him to keep McCain out of the White House.  That isn’t my job.  My job is to vote for who I feel is best suited to run this country…and given choice A or B, I choose C–none of the fucks above.  McCain is going to ruin our lives as we know it, but Obama will do the same w/ his new cohort, only he will do it w/ that shit eating grin on his face telling us it’s all in the name of change and unity.

Go fuck yourself, Obama.  And take Biden and his pro “Partial Birth Abortion” ban support w/ you.

*fuckles*

Thursday Blogwhoring

Lots of good reads this week.

Of course it’s Renee, w/ her post on using physical punishments on children.  Spot fucking on.

And speaking of bloggers who are kicking ass and taking names, Ren is guest blogging at Feministe right now.  She is covering a wide range of Sex Workers rights info, and stirring the pot in a much needed way in the process.  Have a good read, or five.

Ojibway Migisi Bineshii has a post up asking you to tell politicians what women want, and I think it is about time they started listening.

Whatshername had some thoughts on Tropic Thunder.  I saw it too, and haven’t yet formulated how I want to discuss it.  Not being black I don’t feel I can speak as to whether or not someone should be offended and boycott this film.  I do say that the previews don’t give it a fair shake and make it much worse than it really is.  I think some of it was not thought out well, but some of it in context accomplishes what I believe it set out to do.  This is just MHO, and I certainly can not fault those who will not see it b/c of Robert Downy Jr’s character.  I had to see for myself.

And lastly, Zuzu hits a nail squarely on the head.

So, hit me w/ the links!  What wonderful things have you written that I can not live another five seconds w/o reading?

Thursday Blogwhoring

I am working on a piece that I think is really important, and toying w/ some ideas for a new regular series.  In the mean time, drop your links in comments, and entertain me while I am a Warhammer Beta Widow.

Something I want to highlight is a great post by Teh Portly Dyke, cross posted at Shakesville.  TPD is one of my favorite bloggers ever, please check out her piece on Contemplating Your Navel.

Hope you are all having a great week.

The Guy and I took an impromptu trip up to North Shore (and beyond!) yesterday, intending to snorkel and get dinner in Historic Hale’iwa.  Our trip didn’t go according to plan, it went better!

Thursday Blogwhoring

While I am searching for an article I read today in the Honolulu Advertiser about a man stabbing a trans* person that I thought was rant worthy, tell me what you are all writing this week.

I read it on the front page and now I can not find it online.  The man stabbed someone else who was “dressed as a woman”, and the paper identified this person as a man, and their wasn’t much for detail.  It struck me as oddly written, ill placed, and now I can not find it.

So, gimme what ya got, Readerland!

This week I recommend you check out Trailer Park Feminist, and her post that shows us just how petty anti-choicers can be.  FSM forbid that poor women actually be able to find access to reduced cost or free health care.  Oy w/ the poodles already!

I would love to see your links this week, Readerland!

And for you lurkers, checking us out at work, reading the author profiles, you may as well out yourselves…we know who you are.  ;)

Drop your links in comments.

My suggested reading:

Check out the Red Queen, watching so we don’t have to (a service I much appreciated), and also explaining racist framing, another service for the reading comprehension challenged.  She is that damned nice.  Don’t worry, Red, I won’t tell!

Be sure to check out the new online women’s travel magazine, Galavanting!  Awesome mag, awesome title!

Hit me w/ your best shot…err…posts!

Might I recommend catching some of Renee’s brilliant guest posting on Feministe? I am particularly fond of this one, although it ruffled a lot of feathers.

Have a great one, Readerland!
